BismillahirRahmanirRahim
You need someone to show you yourself. Because you cannot see yourself. Man can see everything in creation, Allah has created these eyes. Man can see everything with these eyes. But he cannot see himself. He can see everyone, but if he doesn’t see a reflection, a mirror, he doesn’t know what he looks like.
Something for a man to think about.
And if your spirit is very important to you. You must see your spirit. But how are you going to see your spirit? You cannot even see your physical form. So you need a reflection. You need a mirror. You need someone who is going to hold you your pure reflection. Not a broken mirror. Not something that is twisted.
That is the role of the Prophets. That is the role of the waris, the inheritors, the Awliyah Allah. They are going to show you. Maybe you are going to see something there that you don’t like, definitely, because majority now entering to tarikats, thinking that they are already saints. Thinking that they are very special people. Or that they are entering to tarikat thinking that they are royalty. Or thinking that they have some special connection to the spiritual world.
But it’s nothing but ego. You enter to a tarikat to put your ego down to say, I am nothing. If you still claim to be something, you haven’t reach anywhere yet. If you do not know what nothing is, you will never have taqwa. You will not. That ego is still going to say, ‘ You are You. and I am me.”
So now the Sheykh and the murshid comes, and he will show you something that you will not like. You say, ‘this is me? It’s not me.’
‘Yes. Yes. Yes. It is.’ The Sheykh is like a doctor. You look nice and healthy but Doctor says, ‘you have a cancer.’
‘What me?’ I’ve never heard anyone fighting with their doctor. You hear? Especially in these days, the doctors says,
‘Huh, really?’ Immediately they believe. ‘What can I do? What should I do now?’ They are running.
But for the cancer of the spirit, so many are denying, ‘What? me? I have this? No, I don’t.’ They are fighting with the Sheykhs. Huh. Now we are getting into really big problems.

COMMENTS: JOUHAR ALI NAQSHBANDI AL-HASSANI
Our beloved Hoja Effendi has spoken the truth. There is no doubt in it. How can you follow religion without a true guide?
If you do not know your own self, your soul your spirit (rooh), that is your real existence . then how can you claim that you can know Quran and knowledge of others?
Your own self (Nafs and Rooh) body and spirit is with you 24 hours, Soul except when you sleep!. And you do not even know yourself!.
Do you know how many spots in your back head without the help of someone?
So if you do not know yourself(your soul), then you are not fit to be followed, you cannot follow your own self in your deen matters (religion). And no part of your life is excluded from your religion!.
Because Allah says:
17.36. Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge (whether it is good or bad), and refrain from groundless assertions and conjectures. Surely the hearing, the sight, and the heart – each of these is subject to questioning about it (you are answerable, and will be called to account, for each of these on the Day of Judgment).
Because if you follow yourself in deen, or follow someone else who do not know himself, then you are following misguided ones and read below verses from Quran 25:43 and 45:23 |
You cannot even follow yourself , because you still do not know yourself!!!
Therefore Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala says in Quran:
Quran 25:43 Have you seen the one whose god is his own ego? Will you be his advocate?
Quran 45:23 Have you noted the one whose god is his ego? Consequently, God sends him astray, despite his knowledge, seals his hearing and his mind, and places a veil on his eyes. Who then can guide him, after such a decision by God? Would you not take heed?
This is why you cannot depend on yourself in the Path of Haqq. You need a Shaykh, even if you learnt all sciences and religious books by heart, you are still corrupt!.
You need a qualified trainer (Murshid Kaamil) to train you and prepare you for the journey to Allah and Rasool alaihiswalathu wa salam.
Does not Hadith say, when you travel appoint a leader on you?
So who is your leader in the journey (migration to Allah and Rasool alaihiswalathu wa salam)?
On the authority of Omar bin Al-Khattab, who said : I heared the messenger of Allah salla Allah u alihi wa sallamsay :
“Actions are but by intention and every man shall have but that which he intended. Thus he whose migration was for Allah and His messenger, his migration was for Allah and His messenger, and he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated.” related by Bukhari and Muslim
That is the leader (Imam, spiritual guide) Allah asking you to seek in Sura Isra verse 80.
Say: “O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Thy Presence an authority to aid (me).”
They are the Muttaqeen and they are the guided ones and they are guided by those who are in the grace of Allah.
Quran 2:2This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah;
Quran 1:7 The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
They are those who are the Imams and Shyakhs of ahlul bayt up on the greater majority of Muslims and the Imams they followed them.
Tirmidhi, denoting it Hassan, and Haakim narrated from Zaid bin Arqam that the beloved Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa Baaraka wa Sallam said
إني تارك فيكم ما إن تمسكتم به لن تضلو بعدي: كتاب الله وعترتي أهل بيتي ولن يفترقا حتى يردا علي الحوض، فأنظروا كيف تخلفوني فيهما
‘Verily I am leaving in you that to which if you firmly hold onto you will not go astray after me; The Book of Allah and my family the Ahl al-Bait. These two will not be separated until they meet me at the Fountain (of Kawthar), so look (take care) at how you deal with them after me.’ [Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 5, Page 626, Hadith 3788 | Mustadrak al-Hakim, Vol. 3, Page 160, Hadith 4711]
Ibn Shayba and Musadad in their respective Musnads; Hakeem Tirmidhi in ‘Nawaadir Al Usool’, Abu Ya’laa and Tabarani narrated from Salama bin Aku’ that the beloved Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa Baaraka wa Sallam said
الندم أمان لأهل السماء وأهل بيتي أمان لأمتي
‘The stars are the refuge for the people of the Heavans and my Ahl al-Bait is the refuge for my Ummah.’ [Ibn Hajar in Matalib al-Aaliya, Vol. 4, Page 262, Hadith 3972 | Tabarani in Al-Kabir, Vol. 7, Page 22, Hadith 6260 | Kanz al-Ummal, Vol. 12, Page 101]
Importance of a Spiritual Guide:
Hazret Ali Ibn Abi Taalib (Radiyallahu Anhu) saying :
“When someone make tarbiyyath himself without a Shaykh, it is like he constructing a building without the foundation!,Those who do not have tarbiyath of shyakhs will not get the spiritual wisdom coming from Allah like a fountain of wisdom coming through the Shaykhs ,thus he will not reach in lofty stations of faith. He will be like illegitimate children who got someone to be called as a father!”
(Qalaidul Jawahir 30)
And by Allah We know that the guided sect is those who followed the major body of Muslims (Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamah) and it’s authentic path of Tasawwuf (Tarika)
